La walnuts is a true emblem of Périgord, a region where it has been cultivated for centuries. As early as the Middle Ages, walnuts were already highly prized for their multiple uses: they were used as much in cooking as in the manufacture of oil, and their wood was used to make furniture and precious objects. Over time, the Périgord walnuts has established itself as a quality reference, now benefiting from a AOP (Protected Designation of Origin) And of a AOC (Controlled Designation of Origin). Thanks to its ideal climate and a rich soil, the Périgord Noir is one of the main walnut production areas in France. The harvest of this nut generally extends from October to November, before being processed into a wide range of products: walnut oil, kernels, walnut wine, and many other delights.
